A new law passed last summer gives you 24 hours to clean your car or face fines.
Christie’s Law signed by Gov. Wolf in July would impose fines of $200-$1,500 if drivers fail to clean snow and ice from the hood, trunk and roof of their motor vehicle. The law calls for:
“Reasonable efforts to remove accumulated ice or snow from the motor vehicle or motor carrier vehicle, including the hood, trunk and roof of the motor vehicle or motor carrier vehicle, within 24 hours after the cessation of the falling snow or ice.”
The law is named after Christine Lambert, who passed away on Christmas Day in 2005 after ice from a passing truck and crashed through her windshield.
